In 9 km from Świdnica, Jaworzyna Śląska is the Museum of Industry and Railway. The engine house from 1895 in Jaworzyna Śląska was closed in 1991 and transformed into Skansen Steam Locomotives – a branch of the Railway Museum in Warsaw. Since 2004 it has been operating as the Museum of Industry and Railway in Silesia. Currently, the Museum provides an exhibition including historic standard gauge rolling stock from 1890 to the 1970s. The collection consists of over 50 locomotives (Polish, German, Austrian, English and American), around 50 wagons, railway cranes and snow plows. The entire collection is set in a fan-shaped hall with 19 stands and 1.5 km of tracks. The models from 1924-1978 have been meticulously restored and are now technically sound. In the historic rooms of the former engine house, a series of thematic exhibitions devoted to the history of technology and industry was organized.
