Warmia Bishops Castle in Lidzbark
Bishops Castle in Lidzbark is one of the most valuable monuments of Gothic architecture north-eastern Polish. Built in the fourteenth century at the confluence of the rivers Lyna and Symsarna, well fortified by walls and moats, and additionally protected by riverbeds.
The castle was built on the plan of a quadrangle with an inner courtyard surrounded by galleries and high tower in the north-east corner and the towers on either side of the south wall, where the entrance gate. In the basement there are exhibition rooms where you can see elements of garden architecture and cannons from the coats of arms of the bishops.
In the courtyard ward is a baroque statue of St. Catherine from 1756.
