(NOT ONLY) BLUES NIGHTS IN OLSZTYN – resume
This year, the most prestigious blues festival in Olsztyn – Blues Nights had changed and proposed not only blues music.
At the first day we could hear blues in connection with Balkan music, Turkish music and jazz. On the stage performed Mirosław Łoszewski & Edward Bierdziewski, Tsigunz Fanfara Aventura and Kraków Street Band. As a bad weather, there was not a lot of people in the amphitheatre.
Bad love
More popular had Saturday concerts. Second day of the Festival began Hubert Szczęsny with The Dharma Bums band. This concert set the audience off and it finished by encore.
Explosion of the energy
The next was Makar & Children of the Corn concert. Their unrestrained music show woke up the audience better than mornig coffe! Musicians receptivnes, their ease and great contact with the people in the amphitheater created very good atmosphere.
First ‘victim’ of the blues
As a third on the stage performed The Freeborn Brothers band. At (Not Only) Blues Nights in Olsztyn their presented a music mixture of folk, country and punk. Accordian, trombone, trumpet, guitar and drums with often changed music pace met with audience’s applause. “Seven people” – this track has remembered in my mind for a long time. At the stage we could saw also “music battle” by trumpet and trombone with a great sense of humour. The Freeborn Brothers band was very good approved by the audience and – of course – they played as an encore.
Time machine
At the end on the stage performed Jazz Band Młynarski-Masecki who took us to the pre-war period. This old style in connection with the new arragments bewitched the public. It was showed specially during “How do you do Mr Brown”.
As a resume – our impressions:
This year edition of the (Not Only) Blues Nights in Olsztyn was completely different from the previous editions. But – in our opinion – these differences created more special character of this festival and took on it a new energy! So we are really curious about what will happen there next year 😉
