Ostróda Reggae 2019
A festival of music, thoughts and heart.
The second weekend of July was the time when Ostróda was filled with life thanks to Ostróda Reggae Festival – one of the largest Polish music festivals and the most important open air reggae festival in Poland.
The four days of the festival consisted of dozens of concerts on three different stages by musicians from Poland, Europe and Jamaica. But Ostróda Reggae Festival is #morethanmusic – numerous accompanying events were prepared for visitors. Every day in Ostróda Amphitheatre’s Reggae University one could learn history and culture of Jamaica or reggae’s place in the grand scheme of music, as well as meet the artists in person. Several music and dance workshops, including drumming and dancehall lessons, were set up on the local pier. In the Chillout Zone one could rest on a hammock or play some video games. The large number of colorfully dressed people emphasized the festival’s vibe.
Nearly 50 artists, both from Poland and from abroad, gave their performances on ORF’s three stages. On Red Stage performed, among others, Gentleman’s Dub Club, The Congos, Jahneration, Agent Sasco, Oku Onuora and Bakshish. The bands Dubska and Etna Contrabanda celebrated their own 20th anniversary of scenic activity, while Raggattack returned to action after many years and played their greatest hit “I don’t like reggae – I love it!”. Their concerts brought crowds near the stage.
This celebration of positive music lasted until very late hours. In between Red Stage concerts one could have a dance in Jah Love Soundsystem sector.
What sets ORF apart from other open air events? Good vibes and lack of barriers above all else. Even the musicians themselves were leaving their VIP sector after their concerts to have fun with everyone else out in the open without a worry. Truly a festival that unites generations.
We warmly invite you to participate in next year’s 20th anniversary edition of Ostróda Reggae Festival!
