10 Lublin Jazz Festiwal
The 10th edition of Lublin Jazz Festival began with a concert in the Nahorny Songbook series performed by the students of Jazz and Stage Music at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. They were accompanied on the piano by the jazz-master Włodzimierz Nahorny, Mariusz Bogdanowicz (double bass) and Piotr Biskupski (drums).
Beautiful jazz arrangements of 13 tracks is really hard to describe. On the one hand, it was calm and nostalgic, on the other hand, combined with piano and double bass variations and percussion shows, constituted a musical feast, which will certainly remain in the memory of the participants of this cocncert for a long time.
The repertoire of Nahorny’s Song-book included works written by Agnieszka Osiecka, Andrzej Poniedzielski, Wojciech Młynarski and Jonasz Kofta. The performance by Jakub Kawałek, who sang “Her Portrait”, was particularly received by the audience. The new arrangement of this lyrical song, known to everyone, was unique and surprised the audience with its unobviousness.
On the stage we saw people enjoyed the love of music; the vocalists were also overtaken by a performance next to a living legend of Polish jazz. The emotions painted on their faces perfectly reflected the lyrics of the songs.
It was funny, but also touching. One could stumble on one’s leg, but as if in balance, there were moments forcing one to stop. All the emotions that were beating from the stage were reflected among the audience filling the room, who were full of applause for the performers.
