The Jagiellonian Fair in Lublin

The Jagiellonian Fair is a festival based on traditional culture from which we draw the most beautiful aspects. This festival refers to Lublin fairs dating back to the 15th century. In those days, trade routes running through Lublin brought to our city of culture many travelers, nomads and traders. This is why the festival is called the Jagiellonian Fair. Over the course of the past ten years, the Festival evolved and transformed into an event at which we predominantly focus on traditional rural culture as well as adapted culture and culture passed down by artists based in cities. Curiosity and a desire to learn and discover new cultures, openness and cordiality the Fair’s participants and visitors show one another motivate us to keep building a programme focused most of all on close, direct relationships between artists and viewers. We place particular importance on the master-student relationship that becomes established during numerous workshops dedicated to handcrafts, singing, dance or instrument playing.
