Perspectives – 9th Hills Festival
The medieval walls of Chełmno will become the seat of art for three days. The city hosts the Hills Festival, which combines music, performing arts, theater, and even street art! At the festival, you will find these and other arts under the names Art of the Past, Art of Love, Art of Space, Art of Movement, Art of Living, Art of Seeing, Art of Joy, Art of Hearing and Art of Fantasy.
The unifying theme of this year‘s Hills Festival is. “The Art of Movement!” On the weekend between August 6 and 8, 2021, you can see what this means in practice.
Why is Hills Festival so unquestionably unique compared to other Polish festivals? Because it really turns Chełmno into a CITY OF ART. The events taking place during the festival are inscribed in the space and architecture of the city. As a result, it is an opportunity for residents and tourists to discover places that are normally inaccessible, and for those who know them to look at them from a new perspective.
During the festival, the courtyards of the Old Town are transformed into art workshops, becoming an area of social and animation activities. As a result, artistic activities (including exhibitions, concerts and performances) are introduced into churches and basements. Some of it takes place outdoors. Isn‘t that special?
Hills Festival guests will not be disappointed by this year‘s line-up either. Among the artists invited to Chełmno we will find DJ El‘Mirka, acclaimed pianist Gloria Campaner, Sopot Dance Theatre, known from Mam Talent Illusionist Filip Piestrzeniewicz. Fans of street art will surely be delighted by a mural created by a street-art artist who already has his works in 43 countries and works under the pseudonym L7Matrix.
For younger festival goers there will be special zones where they can take part in artistic workshops. There will also be something for cinema fans, i. e. film screenings under a cloud. In the zone of balance with nature you can take part in meditation and yoga classes. Those hungry for art are sure to be satisfied by the many exhibitions and art installations. And that‘s not all!
Amazingly, the festival is completely free. So it seems that there is no better place to spend the first weekend of August than Chełmno. Without a doubt, you will not regret your visit to Hills Festival!
